March 2017 Fishing Report

FISHING REPORT - March 30th, 2017

Sometimes the best fishing report is short and sweet! Today we heard of blowtoads, blues, sea mullet and.....Trever's catch of this beautiful 26" Red Drum!  Tomorrow weather looks to be rain all day, but the fish will never know! Get out there!

Wow, what a beautiful day. The day even brought through some southwest winds and drove some drum to the Point. Several big drum were caught at the Point and one at ramp 55 in Hatteras. All over 40 inches. There have also been catches of blow toads, puppy drum and sea mullet along the beach in Buxton.
We have been busy getting the shop ready for spring. Stop by and see us if you are lucky enough to be in town. If not, stop by our website and have a look around while you dream about being here.
Thanks to Jim Arnold for sharing a picture of his puppy drum catch.

We are hearing reports of blow toads at ramp 43, 44 and around the point. There have also been some dog fish around the point. Interesting fact, dog fish is typically shipped to England for fish and chips so if you catch some take it home, fry it up and let us know how it is! We are also seeming some small bluefish behind the hotels in Buxton. The weather is beautiful so get out there and enjoy it! Don't forget to send pictures of your catch to or stop by and share them with us.

Ronnie Williams shared this picture with us on Sunday, March 26th.

Looks like it's going to be a great day out there for fishing! Blowtoads and Bluefish are being reported up and down the beach with some Puppy Drum and Sea Mullet being caught behind the motels in Buxton and sharks out on the point! Grab your finger mullet and fresh shrimp and get out there!

Don't forget to send us your pictures!

Whew Hoo! It looks like today will be the last day of cold weather for a while. Tomorrow we jump into the 60's and stay that way into next week. We are hearing of blow toad and flounder catches at the Point. Ramp 43 has also seen some black drum. The drum have been biting in Ocraocoke. Now all we need is a South wind to warm the water up and bring the drum this way. This weekend should be beautiful so come see us and get out there and do some fishing! Don't forget to stop back by or call us and give us a fishing report! We would love for you to send us your pictures to post online as well.
